Abstract
Background: Stunting remains a major public health challenge that requires interventions beginning in the preconception period. Prospective brides and grooms represent a strategic target population for stunting prevention through improved reproductive health and nutrition literacy. However, the use of effective educational media by healthcare providers remains suboptimal. Therefore, strengthening the capacity of healthcare workers through training using locally developed educational media, such as the Sakura Cantik Pocket Book, is essential. Objective: This study aimed to evaluate the effectiveness of a Training of Trainers (TOT) program in improving the knowledge of midwives and nutritionists regarding the use of the Sakura Cantik Pocket Book as an educational tool for reproductive health promotion and stunting prevention among prospective couples. Method: A quasi-experimental study with a one-group post-test-only design was conducted. The study included 15 participants from the TOT program at Maospati Community Health Center (Puskesmas Maospati), who were recruited using total sampling. Data were collected using a structured multiple-choice questionnaire administered immediately after the training. The intervention consisted of lectures, demonstrations and simulations on the use of the educational media, followed by participant evaluation. Result: Overall, 73.3% of participants achieved scores in the good category (19–20 points). Participants aged 41–50 years accounted for the highest proportion of high scores, suggesting that greater professional experience may contribute to a better understanding of the educational materials. The findings indicate that the TOT program effectively enhanced participants' knowledge of the use of educational media for reproductive health education and stunting prevention. Conclusion: The TOT program utilizing locally developed educational media effectively strengthened the capacity of healthcare workers. Scaling up this training model is recommended as a promotive and preventive strategy to support stunting reduction initiatives beginning in the preconception period.
